40 Things You’ll Be Happy to Give Up for Lent

The season of Lent lasts for 40 days.  During lent you should give up luxuries as a form of penance.  Here are some ‘luxuries’ you can do without.

Procrastination

Many of us fight the evil luxury of procrastination.

We think we will all have enough time to do ‘it’ later – whatever ‘it’ is.  This is a luxury you cannot afford!  Do IT today, now even.  Most things we put off can be accomplished in as little as 30 – 90 minutes.  So give up that luxury and get something done today!

Failure

Give up failure.  The LUXURY of failure. You see, failure is just a word.  And failure is holding you back.  Edison didn’t think he failed 9,999 times at creating the light bulb. He just found that many ways that didn’t work.  Finding things that don’t work are more important to you.  Because if you are willing to risk something that isn’t working, you’ll find a much better solution in the end.  It means you were dreaming bigger, shooting higher, creating more!

COMFORT ZONE

Give up your COMFORT ZONE.

Your comfort zone is where all people cease to create.  There is no passion, there is no power, there is no growth.  So get out of your comfort zone on a regular basis and GROW.  I know it’s warm and fuzzy and you feel as adorable as this picture, but sometimes you have to venture to gain!

BLAME

Give Up Blame

Such an important one to give up!  When you blame someone else, something else, for whatever is going on in your life, you give up your power as well.  Blame makes you . . . powerless. So give up blame and take your power back.  Take control of your life.  FEEL in control of your life and stop ‘blaming’ other people or things on the way things are turning out.  Everything you are, everything you do, is as a result of the choices you’ve made. People in similar circumstances have made different choices and had different results.  What results do you want?

I always used to tell my kids.  “Remember that when you point your finger at someone else, 4 fingers are pointing back at you.”
